FROM my 1960s collection, here is a 1961 Austin A55 Cambridge, an early Farina model with the larger, pointed rear fins and the 1500cc BMC engine.
She is a pretty thing in a period colour scheme which I would describe as being a "banana milk" cream shade with a contrasting light pink to the rear end!
I believe she has had very little use in recent years although her last MoT (which was not required) only expired less than a year ago. To that end, her brakes started sticking on my drive out and so they may need freeing off. She appears to be a sound enough old girl with just some cosmetic areas here and there, the worst probably being to an area on the bottom the passenger door where there is some paint bubbling. Front seats are non-standard but comfortable and actually suit the car quite well. Note the original A55 style dashboard in painted metal with the ignition barrel in the bonkers position - straight ahead of you and through the steering wheel!
A rare model these days.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 61-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Thanks, Martin. the details below.
