1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (R107) Signal Red (568) with Beige Leather (275) * Black Soft Top (9001)
High specification 300 SL from the last six months of the R107’s production.
This 300 SL was collected from Stuttgart in January 1989 and delivered straight to a main dealership in Osend, Belgium. During this period, the entire final run of production vehicles was reserved, and no new orders could be placed; with this particular 300 SL not destined to stay on mainland Europe. In April of the same year, the 300 SL was delivered to Sheffield and taken into the custody of the first owner who would keep it for just 2 years, taking the mileage up to circa 10, 000.
The 300 SL was then purchased for Mrs Bretherick who traded in a 1988 BMW 316i coupe for the 300 SL and paid an additional amount of £22, 000 for the vehicle - quite the expense in the early 1990s. The vehicle remained in this family until 2012 and then changed hands to a new owner until 2018, when the vehicle was sold by SLSHOP to the current owner. Since this sale, SLSHOP has serviced the vehicle annually and can attest to the high-calibre of vehicle presented to you here.
The Exterior:
The Signal Red (568) paintwork is in immaculate condition with little sign of age - testament to the care taken by each owner to keep this vehicle in tip top condition. All exterior chrome and trim pieces are in exceptional condition, with the chrome still glistening as new. All four wheels are as new with no scratches, dents or paint peeling; each tire offers miles of use. The front headlamps are clear as expected, with no milking or cracks.
Inside:
This is a high-specification example, featuring air conditioning - an expensive option at the time and one not commonly found with the 300 SL variant. Other options include rear seats and Cruise Control (Tempomat), offering the same level of driver convenience as a modern vehicle. The interior leather hide is immaculate with no rips or stains, and the seats are firm but luxurious (as expected of a luxury Mercedes-Benz grand tourer). The current keeper has fitted an aftermarket classic style head unit featuring Bluetooth to add to your driving experience. The 300 SL also has mobiliser for added security.
Accompanying the vehicle is a whole host of invoices dating back to the 1990s, including MOT records and servicing details from an array of the UK-based specialists.
