Jowett Javelin saloon.
Originally beige with red leather upholstery.
Built in 1953 and allocated by Jowett Cars to 'Coventry & Jeffs' No. 2 Depot, Lansdown Garage, Clifton Road, Bristol on 27th December. I understand that there are only two younger Javelin's known to have survived. Originally issued with the registration number 'SAE 5' and was known to the Javelin Register, belonging to a keeper in Somerset in 1967. It changed hands in 1972 and has been owned since the 1980's as a dry-stored restoration project.
A great deal of the most time-consuming renovation works have been done to a very good standard. The chassis has been rebuilt, as has the engine and much of the cars running gear. Other than the front grill, the car is mainly complete. Removed parts have been wrapped, boxed or labelled. The fuel tank has been rebuilt. The removed rear wing require further work before being placed back on the car. The original VIN plate is retained and there are some papers linked with communications with DVLA prior to the issuing of a new registration document, not yet completed (SEA 5 has been re-issued elsewhere, so the Javelin would be given an age related non-transferable number).
I would really like to see it go to a good home.
