SUMMARY
I'm selling this little BMW Z4 as kind of a PX bargain, as its not as perfect as I normally like my cars to be. Having said that, I've enjoyed having this superb little Roadster around; unlike an immaculate concourse car, you're not too scared to use it, or leave it anyway. I'm also sometimes accussed of talking my own cars down, somewhat, and I feel I might be doing that with this one, but I dont want to create any false illussions. I have to say though in reality unless you're looking for abject perfection (which doesnt exist when it comes to Classic and Old cars) I dont think any right minded person will be dissappointed, as it does actually look the part, and moreover its mechanically sound and drives and handles incredibly well.
I've now spent almost £1500 on this Z4, and thats not including my time. When I got this car back in the depths of dark, cold December, it had been stood for a while, and needed a few things attending to (listed above). I'll be honest in saying I actually tossed a coin on whether I should just sell it then very cheap, or take it up to the next level. Although its showing 9 previous keeper, which incidentally isn't always bad thing as each new owner will do their bit to the car, and its covered 136K miles, which again isnt a problem for well looked after BMW engine, the coin toss went in its favour, which I was secretly quite glad about, as I really liked this car and felt like almost I owed it the the BMW engineers who designed this pocket rocket, so I set about impoving it.
Now some seven months on, she's driving perfectly, pulls like a train, and she handles like she's on rails. The hood works as it should and even the AC is freezing cold too. I fould myself talking her out for whats becoming routine runs accross the moors on these lovely summer evenings. It certainly beats watching Coronation Street or East Enders.
So, if you want something you can actually use and enjoy, rather than just look at, polish and kiss goodnight, then this car is a perfect antidote to "Concourse Fever" as I like to call it; something us enthusiast can all suffer, and which can actually utimately spoil classic ownership. Dont get me wrong there's no rust or massive dents, just minor paint imperfections, that actually could be sorted quite cheaply, if it bothers you, but it wouldnt make the car any more fun. Lets face it £2500 isn't much for a very sorted car these days; you could spend ten times that and still get the same result. I'll actually be quite sorry when she's gone, as I've grown rather fond this little Roadster.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that.
