Offered is an exceptionally beautiful and restored Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3. 5 Cabriolet in a very elegant colour combination and with desirable full equipment.
Already ordered from the factory was a Behr air conditioning system, 4-way power windows, fold-out armrests, heat-insulating glass, driver's side rear-view mirror and instruments with miles and gauges in English lettering.
Additional headlights and a modern car radio in Becker Europa style were installed in the vehicle, which in no way detracts from the authenticity.
The vehicle presented here was delivered to the USA on 1 July 1971.
There it underwent a complete restoration of the highest quality.
In addition to the bodywork, the extensive chrome parts, the roof mechanics and the new soft top, the entire technology, axles, gearbox, electrics and the complete interior were restored.
In 2011, the vehicle was brought back to Germany by the owner of the renowned company HK Engineering in Polling/ Bavaria due to its excellent condition and the sought-after full equipment.
For many years, this HK manufacture has combined the finest Mercedes Benz craftsmanship under one roof with detailed sheet metal work with original tools, engine construction with the highest precision, handwork according to old traditions in the saddlery, perfect paint restoration in their own paint shop as well as professional reconditioning of all technical components.
In Polling, the vehicle was thoroughly serviced and overhauled by this specialist company before it was sold on shortly afterwards. From then on, it remained in Germany, where it was sold to an entrepreneur and collector just under a year later.
Among other things, this businessman specialised in the sale of high-quality vehicles.
He kept the vehicle until last year, 2019, before it then came to the current owner via another short letter entry.
Overall, the vehicle presents in beautiful condition, having not only been part of collections since its extensive restoration, but also very rarely used.
This very rare and only 1232 flat radiator convertible of the W111 series is one of the most elegant Mercedes-Benz models of the post-war period and it is highly sought after among collectors due to both its rarity and its suitability for everyday use.
