HERE is a 1971 Reliant Scimitar 3-litre V6. She has recently emerged from long term storage, looks to be sound underneath, starts and drives through the gears. Sounds really healthy too. Still a great looking car to say that it came off a 1960s drawing board. Excellent interior although I guess those front seats are not standard. There is a receipt dated 1993 from Cobra Automotive seats, and I would imagine that is for those special made to measure sports seats. Panels are good and, although the paintwork is a little faded, at least it is not cracked here, there and everywhere on the fibre glass body work like so many are.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 51-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
