This October built 1958 Austin Healey 100/ 6 is a very late and more desirable Abingdon built example with the vastly superior Weslake head. Well specified from new with overdrive, wire wheels and a heater, this collectible example is an original numbers car with fantastic provenance including ownership by Anthony Hamilton – father of the 7 time F1 champion, Lewis.
Restoration of this 100/ 6 finished in April 1998 and included a full body-off nut-and-bolt restoration to a high standard with just 9, 000 miles since. The restoration can be seen in our website gallery. During restoration the engine and gearbox rebuilt, the car rewired and re-plumbed plus all other mechanical components refurbished or restored. Pleasingly the metalwork of this car remains very original with what appear to be all original body panels. The originality of the restored car is supported by a very positive pre—purchase inspection by Austin Healey Associates Ltd -well know Healey concours judges and business partners of Donald Healey.
This Healey has been well maintained since with new seat covers from John Skinner in 2016 and a new Black ever flex hood in 2012 from a specialist. The car was then purchased by Anthony Hamilton who enjoyed around 3-4, 000 miles in the car – nearly half of its mileage since restoration – and who focused particular attention on both maintenance and driving improvements such as a new exhaust, anti-roll bar and other suspension bushes, general servicing and a new black everflex tonneau cover.
In 2022 the car has been fitted with a full exterior LED light kit including the fantastic LED headlights, new dampers, a new clutch, brake overhaul and a full service including tune-up.
Overall, this is a very smart and well restored Healey which presents well since its restoration, ready to use and enjoy.
