THIS is my 1981 Jaguar XJ6 series 3 4. 2 in a delightful shade of blue with contrasting light tan leather. She has been in the same ownership for the past 25 years and comes with a huge history incorporating around 24 old MoT certificates and a pile of invoices for regular servicing and work done. Her mileage of 72, 000 ought to be considered reasonably low in my view considering this Jaguar is now 42-years-old! Her last MoT expired two years ago. Motoring wise - although she has always been well maintained - she has covered a mere 3, 000 miles or so in the past 20 years. A very pretty example, she has some minor cosmetic issues to the wheel arches although I would consider them to be simple enough to tidy up. There is a small area around the nearside headlight where primer has been applied. Overall, a sound and bonny enough series 3 XJ6. Their values have crept up steadily in recent years and you no longer see these iconic Jaguars being offered for giveaway prices. Looks extremely appealing at my price I would suggest. Incidentally, she will need the V5 updating to Historic Vehicle tax as she is now more than 40-years-old. I removed the front footwell carpets (they are fine and look original) to unveil the floor pans which are also original, in body colour and still with the sound deadening strips in the grooves (see photo). I took her for a cruise this morning, covering around 12 miles or so and she drove superbly.

This description is based on my opinion of the vehicle, the paperwork that comes with the car and anything I have been told about it. The vehicle is more than 40-years-old and this cannot be taken as a definitive statement for obvious reasons. As with most classic cars, there may be faults and quirks whilst, almost inevitably, some degree of tinkering and care will always be called for. Such are the joys of owning an antique vehicle and they must be taken within their own context and not compared to modern day cars. They are sold as old, mainly out-dated machines and come without any comeback whatsoever. They are my terms and conditions.

My classic cars are motoring antiques. This car, for example, is 42-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote.

I have now been established as a one-man band classic car dealer for 20 years and pride myself on my buying prowess and - due to small margins - my prices which I firmly believe are up there among the very best in the UK classic car marketplace.
