Just emerged from a Sussex barn & being recomissioned & fettled by noted marque/ model T specialist Neil Tuckett. This delightful & quirky old 10 to 12 passenger bus has real stage presence & kerb appeal.
The car was driven into the barn where it was parked for a few years by the current aged owner whom has now decided to part company with it. When parked it was in excellent running condition, having been used regularly & we have every expectation it will be in equally good order when back on the road. Model T Ford's are well renowned for their robust mechanics from their strong 3 litre 4 cylinder engines running off a trembler coil.
The body is quaint to say the least & would be ideal for trips to Goodwood or as a gun bus or similar. Ingress & egress is though a side & a rear door with comfortable bench eseating for the 10 to 12 occupants. Passengers are enjoined to pay their fare upon entry presumably in old shillings & pence. The rather spartan drivers quarters are equipped with the slightly bewildering usual model T arrangment of pedals & levers which can present a slight challenge to the uninitiated but are easily mastered once you are in the know. There are three pedals on the floor none of which do what you might expect when compared to a modern car. For example if one pushes the central pedal you will proceed backwards. Likewise the handbrake lever is also the gear lever allowing one to lurch into second gear once sufficient forward momentum has been achieved in first.
All in all a delightful contraption well suited to film or promotional work & great fun to drive, albeit not such fun to race. Pneumatic tyres are fitted up front with sold tyres to the rear. The car is UK road registered & will be sold ready to go. A large luggage rack on the roof would be improved by a selection of vintage leather cases being added to it along with a hat box or two maybe?
