In the 70s there was a Lambo that surprised the world and is celebrating its 50th anniversary. We are talking about the Lamborghini Urraco, a coupe with a 2+2 configuration and just 4. 25 meters long that gave a lot to talk about
With a name from bullfighting as in almost all the brand's models (this is the name given to bulls with black and white fur), it was a project by Paolo Stanzani, who was then Technical Director of the Sant'Agata brand. . The aesthetics was entrusted to Carrozzeria Bertone, which at that time had the legendary Marcello Gandini doing his thing. Hence that wedge-shaped design (wedge-shape) that was so present in that decade.
What Ferruccio Lamborghini was looking for with this copy is that it was a car that was much less traditional than the rest of the brand's models. With that he intended to reach a wider audience, offering a more affordable car to increase production in a controlled manner. A coupé was reached that mounted McPherson type suspensions both in the front and in the rear, being the first production to do so.
The engine in the rear center position was a 2. 5-liter V8 that developed 220 hp in its initial version. It was noted for its high compression ratio thanks to a “Heron” chambered cylinder head of very flat construction and with a combustion chamber contained in a depression in the upper part of the piston. Also for its four double-barrel Weber carburettors. It was already reaching 245 km/ h, being quite fast for the time.
This unit, original for the Spanish market, the engine has been restored, and it has been cleaned up and repainted in the original color, with Lamborghini certification.
