Description

The words “flat rad” has special meaning when applied to the Morgan Plus 4 sports cars of the early 1950s. The phrase refers to the flat, upright radiator shell that these classic models wore until 1954. When the Morgan Plus 4 roadster was built, it was actually state of the art for small-displacement sports cars from the UK utilizing a 2088cc Standard Vanguard engine. It was installed on a widened, lengthened, and strengthened Morgan model 4/ 4 chassis fitted with hydraulic drum brakes for the first time, a rugged combination to say the least!

This beautiful Plus 4 Morgan has been very well-maintained by its owners and is suitable for touring, cars & coffee or vintage car racing, having spent much of its life in California.

First in Plus-4 class at Western Washington 7/ 25/ 15 with supported entry of 55 Morgan's total. The most traditional color of British racing green & tan makes it a highly desirable and collectible Morgan of which only 117 were built. It was the subject of an earlier professional restoration retaining an original engine. The cylinder head was updated to a later version with larger valves and twin carbs for better performance. It has full "weather gear" including top, side curtains, and full tonneau cover. This Flat rad also has the traditional leather bonnet strap, folding windscreen, Lucas TriBar headlamps, twin spares, and Lucas fog light.
