First built 13thJanuary 1955, this 100 BN1 is a rare, original right hand drive home market car originally delivered to Carlaw Cars of Glasgow. Finished in 100M-style duotone of Ivory White with Black this example remains matching numbers on the engine and chassis, with original body numbers.
JHS 304 is believed to have been dealer fitted with the P280 100M ‘Le Mans’ kit, which was only procured to some 500 cars, with research into this conducted by Christie’s Auctioneers in 1987 however there is no original dealer invoice evidence from DHMC fitting such upgrades back in the 50s. The car does correctly feature however the unique 100M features of a louvered bonnet with Le Mans regulation strap, 100M cold airbox, H6 SU carburettors and YH13 distributor which all appear to be original pieces.
JHS was restored by the Morely Brothers in the late 80s and has remained largely untouched since cosmetically. Mileage since restoration is now at just over 30, 000 and the car has mellowed nicely into an extremely characterful machine – far from being over restored and overall, very original. As such it is not pristine a there are some small cracks and paint defects in the bodywork but these are superficial with the car structurally appearing excellent and demonstrated by a very engaging and positive drive.
Since restoration the car has been well maintained with excellent paper history in the file. JHS was purchased through us by its current owner whom serviced and MOT’d it yearly with us with a focus on keeping it turn key. Prior to this MOTs and servicing runs back into the early 90s/ late 80s.
Sold with MOT until June 2023, British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, large paperwork history file including servicing and post restoration photos c. 1987. HPI clear with V5 and toolkit. Black everflex hood, Black everflex tonneau, Black side-screens. Spare wheel.
Bumpers now removed for a sporting look just like the privateer weekend racer Healeys of the 50s. We can re-instate these if desired.
