With just 506 examples built, any Nash-Healey is a rare find indeed. These Anglo-American hybrids, with straight-six engines from Nash, chassis from Donald Healey and, in their second generation, stylish bodies from Pinin Farina, were long ago accorded milestone status as one of the first production post-war sports cars sold in America.
Records estimate a mere 62 of this particular body were ever built, yet the Nash Healey registry currently only accounts for some 30 examples still known to currently be in existence.
That makes the LeMans coupe literally rarer than the holy grail of car collecting, the Ferrari 250 GTO, of which 39 examples were produced, one of which sold in 2013 for a reported whopping 52 million dollars!
Fully restored in 1998, it is powered by a bespoke engine with custom aluminum head and twin British SU carburetors (designed by Donald Healey of Austin-Healey fame). This 6 cylinder inline engine of 1953 displaced 4. 1 liters, and generated 140 high-torque horsepower with the twin SU carburetors. Engine overhauled 1, 500 miles ago. Nash Ambassador head was fit as a replacement, the original aluminium head will accompany the car in the sale.
Each body was individually hand-crafted at the Pininfarina facility in Cambiano, Italy.
