Beschreibung
1989 BMW Z1 in Dream Black with original nubuck and camo seats. 60k miles excellent condition.
Essentially a concept car for the road, the Z1 is such a unique and overlooked car with advanced aerodynamics and composite construction, not to mention the doors that drop down into the sill at a push of a button.
We’ve owned this special car for 12 years, covered 18k miles in it including several trips to Europe, but personal circumstances force sale. It’s been maintained with no expense spared, (not that it’s needed much other than regular servicing) at BMW specialists Munich Legends and latterly Barkers Motor Works in Haslemere (a self confessed BMW M20 nut). Cambelt changed every three years (last one in Aug 2022) and oil change every year regardless of mileage. Valve train is lovely and quiet and the gear change and steering precise.
Condition is excellent with only a few minor marks cosmetically, mechanically it is absolutely spot on and all the better for being used rather than sitting in a collection.
Completely original including the very rare Z1 stereo that was only used in the first year or so of production and the Z1 specific spare wheel. Imported in 1989 with a MPH/ miles speedo/ odometer.
Everyone always says it but I do believe Z1’s have great investment potential and we wish we didn’t have to sell it.
I designed the McLaren P1 and 720S, I bought the Z1 after I’d had my theme selected for the P1 exterior as a little celebration!Works completed other than servicing:

Clutch slave cylinder Jun ‘22
Gearshift assembly refurbished Jun ‘21
