- Glorious retained patina
- Right Hand Drive, 3 speed 4WD
- Recently fully restored chassis
- Rebuild 4. 3 AMC Straight 6
Full patina retained with marvellous even ‘rust’ all over - all clear coated with many custom touches all round the vehicle.
This 1974 Jeep CJ-5 has undergone a near complete body off restoration by Bespoke Traders here in Cornwall. The original paint was retained and the remarkably even surface patination has been kept for authenticity and protected by eight layers of clear coat. The interior has been trimmed in a yellow faux ostrich skin which is fully weatherproof…. which is just as well as there is no weather gear at all (though a standard set of CJ5 bows, hood and doors could easily be fitted).
This Jeep is boasting a newly rebuilt 258cu (4. 3 litre) AMC straight-six with a custom stainless steel exhaust system and a newly powder coated chassis and wheels. New tyres all round plus all brake lines, brakes etc. The air filter cover has been painted by artist Nina Brooke to finish off this truly unique example.
This isn’t a DJ5 ‘posty’ truck with a CJ5 body – it is a genuine US built, RHD 4WD chassis with the 4WD transfer box engaging as it should.
Driving really well (for a 1974 Jeep…) it has a surprising turn of speed and sounds great. The thing even rides surprisingly well – particularly if you are used to a Series Land Rover. Starts easily hot or cold and with a pretty slick gearchange – remembering that reverse is where first usually is! (It’s a three speed with crash first).
The windscreen folds flat and for the ultimate in luxury the windscreen wipers and washers work!
