In order to keep up with other manufacturers (such as Mercedes-Benz with AMG and BMW with M), Jaguar launched its own performance tuning arm, Jaguar Sport, in 1988. The new company was a 50/ 50 split venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR); the partnership is notably instrumental for its development of the legendary Jaguar XJ220 supercar. Not long after its founding, Jaguar Sport began offering a tuned version of the popular XJS, the XJR-S. The XJR-S initially featured a tuned version of the 5. 3 litre V12 engine along with bodywork enhancements and suspension/ handling upgrades.

In September 1989, the V12’s displacement was increased to 6. 0 litres and received fuel injection and an advanced engine management system. These performance enhancements resulted in approximately 320 horsepower and an approximate top speed of 160mph. For the 1992 model year, Jaguar decided to commemorate the launch of the XJ220 super car by bringing XJR-S model to the U. S. for the final year of production. This short run resulted in the XJR-S 6. 0L Asprey Limited Edition. Only 100 examples were produced and each received a special number plate in front of the shift lever. Its incredible performance and low production numbers have caused this model to be highly regarded by Jaguar collectors and enthusiasts today.

The 1993 Jaguar XJR-S 6. 0L Asprey Limited Edition featured here is finished in the stunning factory color combination of Signal Red over Cream leather. This particular example is number 40 of only 100 built to U. S. specifications and was completed by the Jaguar Works in Coventry in late 1992. Today this limited edition model presents as new, displaying only 41, 128 actual miles. It is one of the rarest and most collectible examples among modern-day Jaguars and I truly believe the investment potential of this magnificent motorcar will grow beyond your imagination! We are proud to offer this stunning 1993 Jaguar XJR-S to the most particular collector, investor, or enthusiast.
