LVJ 707F was built for the UK home market 05/ 12/ 1967 and supplied to W. Holloway & Sons, Worcester. First sold to Philip Davies & Son (Farmers) in Dormington, Hereford on 16th Feb 1968 and registered as a farm vehicle all its life until it was retired in 1989 (as proven by the last tax disc still in the window).
Following a purchase by a chap who planned a restoration, it then remained stored in a barn unrestored until being purchased by a fellow LR enthusiast in 2020 who then embarked on the detailed full professional restoration bringing it up to the standard it is today.
A Heritage certificate is supplied confirming its detail as a Land rover basic utility, supplied in Bronze green.
Believed to be a genuine 45, 000 mile vehicle as the dismantling process showed amazing evidence of original fixings , wiring , along with a bulkhead and chassis that had avoided rust, even the original bulkhead A posts and door hinge fixing plates remain. All oil removed from the drive train was clear confirming its good life.
A full nut and bolt restoration was completed in February 2022 including the following key items:
Original chassis stripped and new rear cross member & outriggers were invisibly welded into place. The chassis retains its original dumb irons and chassis stamp. The chassis was examined carefully and was perfect in all other areas and emptied of dust & debris then fully internally wax-oiled. Finished outside in epoxy primer and two pack satin black paint.
Bulkhead required new footwells and mounting feet only. Again fully repaired invisibly, stone chip added to the footwells and painted in 2 pack epoxy. Cavities fully wax-oiled
Rear tub has had a new floor, new wing and rear panels so is as good as new. New doors and new outer wings fitted.
All treated with 3 coats of epoxy 2k primer and 3 coats 2k gloss Deep Bronze Green (its original colour)
The running gear has been fully overhauled with new brakes, lines, master cylinders, clutch etc. New springs and Girling shocks make the ride perfect.
Engine fully restored needing a rebore to +30” but original crank and camshaft needed only new bearings. New seals throughout. The carburettor fully overhauled and running beautifully. Original deep radiator re-cored and brazed repairs so is as new.
New exhaust
Steering wheel covered in smart leather cover with suitable green stitching.
A new Auto-sparks loom installed. Clever period indicator stalk including Hazzard warning lights. New period lights all round.
Although the vehicle was never supplied with a heater, a new Clayton unit with period correct Smiths cover is now installed.
All cappings have been acid dipped and re-galvanised. Correct dome rivets used and they stand proud unpainted as they should be.
A new classic interior fitted along with rear bench seats.
The vehicle is adorned by a new high quality sand Canvas hood supplied by Undercover Covers. Period correct mud flaps at the rear are also a nice quality touch.
