As the great man Jeremy Clarkson said " You gotta love a Jaaag!" and when one like this one turns up you have to agree. This superb "X308" is not only powered by the sought after 4 litre version of Jags then new V8 but is the rare and then very expensive to buy, long wheel base Sovereign. As such not only do you get all the usual refinements but also more elaborate/ expensive wood veneer in "highly figured" burr walnut with the window control/ ashtray trim panels also done in wood veneer, opposed to the plastic found in lesser models, even the traditional leather interior uses a higher quality leather. Then you have the extra 4 inches of rear leg room and the roof line is raised towards the back for extra head clearance. Exterior wise a Sovereign can be distinguished by the complete use of highly polished steel and chrome work around windows and rear light clusters, as well as polished radiator grill and boot garnish.
This particular car was a Jaguar dealer’s car for its first 7 months then only 2 private keepers since and still with only 80K on the clock. Coming with an excellent fully stamped service book and other invoices cataloguing the care and attention lavished on this car, there are even hand written cards listing at what mileages the tyres were rotated at, along with a full set of owners books in their original wallets. Body is excellent, with what in the dark looks black but is actually a very dark green coachwork, having just the odd mark on the bumpers and a soft dent here and there. Interior condition is again excellent, just the slightest wear evident on the driver’s seat outer bolster and the roof lining beginning to droop in places (both traditional failings with Jags of this era).
On the road is where you fall for these great cars, the 290hp V8 is silky smooth and the 5 speed auto makes it effortless to drive, mind you, press the sport mode button and forget the "limousine" ride and get yourself what Jags are about, a true sporting saloon
