Exterior: The 1950 Mercedes 170S for sale here is in a wonderful condition. It has been through a long restoration that started all the way back in 1980 with the body. Later, the car was painted in the beginning of the 90’s. The black paint still looks very nice today with some minor scratches. The chrome pieces received new chrome, and some were bought new. The underneath of this Mercedes W136 170S is also very nice and clean. Only a very thin layer of rust protection has been applied.
Interior: The interior in the 1950 Mercedes 170 S was made by an upholsterer in 2015 with the original style fabric and it looks beautiful. The carpets and headliner were also replaced, and all the wood panels received a new coating of lacquer. All the instruments look very nice and are fully operational. The trunk area is also nice and proper. Today, there is a big trunk with “good to have bits” left over from the restoration as well as the original tools.
Engine: A restoration of the engine has been done, both on inside and the outside. All wearing parts were replaced and the car has not travelled far since. All other mechanical parts were also refurbished together with the brake system.
History: Most likely this car was taken off the road early and left standing. Fell out of the registry and was registered again in 1975. It was then found by the present owner in 1981 and the restoration work started. The car was completed in 2020 and has since then been used only on sunny days going to local Mercedes club events. It will need a few small things to get that true Mercedes feeling back, but all the hard work has been already carried out.
