The Mercedes-Benz 170 S is 170 mm longer, 104 mm wider and better equipped than the 170 V. The engine, with a larger displacement (1, 767 cm³), develops 52 bhp (38 kW) instead of 1, 697 cm³ with 38 bhp (28 kW), enabling a top speed of 120 km/ h.
This model, available as a saloon, cabriolet A and cabriolet B, was the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to receive the designation 'S'; it was often used as a company car.
