SUMMARY
Even though the W204 is quite a ubiquitous car, probably because it's a class leader in its sector, this particular W204 Estate is quite a rare and desirable version in several respects, firstly is extremely rare to find a C250CDI, the most powerful variant of the superb OM651 engined W204 in Elegance Spec; the vast majority tended to be Sport models, which many found a bit too firm; with the Elegance Spec, you get all the same performance, but its much less “crashy” experience than the Sport version, yet still handles extremely well, with no body roll in corners. It’s also a very low mileage example too; you'll find most W204 Estates on offer, have now done well over 100K miles, many nearer 200K. Like any Mercedes-Benz, they’re more than capable of handling these kind of mileages, but it clearly demonstrates that this car has many more years left in it. I've actually become quite a fan of these facelifted W204's, having owned several myself, and I have nothing but praise for them as they're a very accomplished car, extremely economical, and in C250 guise, extremely quick with a torque figure similar to that of a a petrol V8 engine, so as you can imagine, it pulls like the proverbial train.
This is also a car I know quite well, as this particular S204 used to belong to a good friend, and ex-boss of mine, who's just emigrated following retirement. It was actually him, back in the late 80's and early 90's who was partly responsible for me becoming interested, some would say obsessed, with Mercedes as he's always had a Mercedes in the near 40 years I've known him.
So, if you're after one of these superb cars, but want a more compliant ride, and a high level of specification, you wont go too far wrong with this one. This is a gorgeous looking car, and attracts quite alot of positive attention. Its alo a hoot to drive to, with bags of low down uumph, which makes progress effortless; theres also the superb optional factory Harmon Kardon sound system to add to your enjoyment. If it doesnt sell, I wouldnt hesitate for a moment keeping this for myself, as these S204's do everything so well; they're one of those few modern cars you actually look forward to driving.
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the majority of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
