MCL order GT/ 093 colour Verdi Silverstone MetFQ95-3673, beige 4208 hide with Verde stitching, Verde 4305 hide dashboard and verde Forresta carpets. (I am told this is a unique colour combination-a fact which I cannot guarantee).
She was ordered for the 1995 London Motorshow and the sale was agreed on the Ferrari stand at the show. Purchase price (including £10 worth of petrol (!) was £133, 888. 33. I am told this was the most expensive car in the show - again I cannot guarantee this.
This car was purchased from Maranello Sales Ltd on 31st October 1995 by a private individual from whom I purchased it 4 years ago, shortly after a comprehensive service including replacement cam belts by Ferrari Specialists Rardley Motors in Hindhead, Surrey.
Rardley had been looking after the car for the previous owner from new, and also since my purchase.
I spent £11, 000 in November 2022 doing all the work suggested by Rardley, I have the comprehensive invoice.
The car is in near immaculate condition, no corrosion, no blemishes on the paintwork but slight wear on the top of the driver’s seat. Internally all original carpets unmarked. The engine bay too is virtually unmarked.
The car comes with original fitted leather Ferrari luggage which is unused, complete original toolkit and handbooks. The original radio works well however the auto change CD player in the boot does not work, but could be repaired. When my friend (the only previous owner) said he was selling his Ferrari 456, I had no idea of the specification or indeed what it looked like. So I did some homework - the description did not do it justice.
When I first saw the car I knew I had to own it.
Over the years I have owned many classic cars, but none have given the versatility that the 456 does. It is absolutely beautiful to look at and wonderful to drive. Steering, brakes, visibility as good as you would expect from a car of this pedigree. The sound of the V12 is superb. It is very fast, (and quick, i. e acceleration, to match) but cruises at 78 (!) mph at around 2000 rpm, so also quiet and extremely comfortable.
I can fit two full sets of golf clubs easily in the boot as well as two overnight bags, leaving the back seats for any additional luggage. So very much a Grand Tourer with a huge petrol tank giving a range of over 400 miles. Very good air conditioning.
