A beautiful 500SEC that has been in the same ownership for the last 30 years. Full service history and in lovely condition throughout.
First registered in June 1988, this SEC was specified in rare Surf Blue with Fregatt Blue lower half and a contrasting grey leather interior. It has heated, memory seats, cruise control, electric sunroof and air conditioning.
The car has been in London all its life. There were two owners up to 1992, then the last owner was passing the Normand Bayswater showroom and fell in love with the big, elegant coupé in the window and promptly bought it.
He loved the SEC so much that he kept it for the next thirty years until last year.
Full service history with 24 stamps in the service book – majority main dealer - and a folder of receipts going back to the early nineties.
Of note is an overhaul in 2011 that included replacement of the camshafts and head gaskets and brake calipers. In 2020 Mercedes replaced all the ignition components.
We carried further work last year including rebuilding the rear parcel shelf under the rear window (with a photographic record), renovating the air conditioning system, four new tyres, new injectors and much, much more.
As the photographs show, this SEC is in great condition. The Surf Blue paintwork is superb, perfect bumper chromes and refurbished wheels.
Having lived in London throughout its life, away from salt and mud, the underside of this car is in exceptional condition – totally original without corrosion or previous repairs. It is very hard to find an SEC as good as this underneath.
The grey leather interior is all original and in decent order. Everything works including the seat-belt butlers and the air conditioning. Plus the period pull-out Alpine stereo.
In summary, this is a well-loved SEC from long-term ownership. A great looking, very usable car.
