1948 Velocette 350 MAC 16000 miles AJV491
Engine no MAC11770 Frame no 5077
Good condition lots of original patina, starts, runs, rides like a 75 year old bike does.
Been in the family since 1951 my father, my uncle and now me.
Tax discs from 1953-1965, stored 55yrs.
Put back on the road in 2018 for occasional use.
Tank was painted and gold leaved in the 70’s, I know it's not correct, the purist's have mentioned it, but that's how it was done at the time, the frame has had a bit of general touching up in use.
Not had major restoration as far as i am aware, just maintenance to keep it up and running. Interesting history to retain the reg number.
Dowty air forks, rigid rear end. Some receipts from the 50’s and 60’s. One from Veloce Ltd detailing work done.
Old log book, books manuals, cork helmet, gauntlets, waterproof’s from the 50’s.
It's been in the family since 1951. It has been stored since the 60's, was my dads. I tried to get him to take it to shows and to talk to like minded people but he was always too busy being a pensioner.
When it came to me in 2018 I had a mechanic and a local Velo restorer check it over, change the oil etc, before firing it up. I also had the tank coated inside and new petrol taps fitted.
I've ridden it a few times, but as much as I would like, I can't seem to bond with it. It is before my era. I appreciate what it is and the history but it is just too early for me.
