1960 Sunbeam Rapier Mks I To Iv

I bought this Rapier in 1986 with 55, 000 miles on it. It was originally Ash Gray and Pippn Red like the Practical Classics Rapier. In the years I have owned it I have stripped it and changed pretty much every single component. Currently it has a professional reconditioned 96bhp 1725cc engine with Sunbeam Alpine twin Strombergs. They are very simple carbs with easy access adjustable mixture screws below. The current gearbox is a bulletproof pleasure to use 1966 four synchro overdrive gearbox. The overdrive has done 10, 000 miles since new. In an earlier rebuild it was painted original colours but over the years I thought many times about a change so last year I changed the colours about a bit. It is still Gray but now only roof and stripe. The current blue main body colour works very well and as the car cannot pretend to be an original unmolested version it is only an enhancement.
It currently has blue interior but if wanted Gray or even red is available. Original interior parts are 60 years old and some show their age. The Sunbeam comes with a new dash and hopefully that will be fitted over the winter. Drives well and is fast to enable it keep up with modern traffic. This Rapier is not a show car but eminently usable for all other activities. I have built it for reliability, practicality and comfort.
