Life was so simple in the past. Take the Mercedes-Benz w116 350 SE. It does exactly what says on the tin:

The 'S' W116 class has always been built like a tank and my car is no exception to the rule.
Amazingly my car has only travelled 75, 100 miles since it was first registered in 1979!
There is nothing to give away the fact that this Red Metallic 571 S-class has blown out 44 birthday candles.
She still drives as majestically as a new S-class, transporting passengers in serenity and sumptuous luxury.
Supplied to its first owner in 1979, who kept it until 1983. The last owner bought the car then and kept it treasured till, 2022, owned for 41 years before being sold (he stopped driving due to old age)
The car has a red metallic finish over rare Blue Check upholstery, a Union Jack Combination.
The car has central locking, electric sunroof, electric windows, comfortable seats and a DAB/ Bluetooth retro radio
This car is still the ultimate cruiser thanks to excellent maintenance.
Because of its low mileage it has never needed an engine overhaul.
My mechanic described it a ‘Catalogue Car’ his reference point for how they were meant to look and sound, what the correct parts look line etc. Even the foot mats are embossed with the its chassis number unspoilt!
Now forms part of a wonderful and unique spec Mercedes Collection…‘The last ones standing’.
In summary my W116 350 SE is a remarkable vehicle with a storied past and deserves to be appreciated by someone who understands and values its history and significance.
