ADDITIONAL INFO:
This camper has just beasted a 12 day European mission, taking in 9 countries and smashing out just under 3000 miles (including traversing the Austrian and French Alps!) You can safely say the niggles have been ironed out - new starter motor, new electronic fuel pump and new clutch recently installed.

Writing a FOR SALE ad for a ?keeper? is tough, yet here I am. I imported six buses from the States back in 2013. This was the pick of the bunch and the fabled keeper. It?s becoming increasingly hard to find original paint buses, especially stock ones!

A brief overview:

1972 Californian Westy
LHD
One former owner
All original panels and paint (a couple of areas blown in many years ago)
One key fits all locks and ignition
New genuine whitewall tyres (no flappy flaps!)
New brakes
Rebuilt front calipers
Original 1700 engine with new barrels and pistons
Brand new twin Weber 34 ICT carbs installed by Wayout Westie
CB manifolds and linkage
Powdercoated tinware
Professionally tuned to just over 60bhp on rolling road
New cab seats, arch mats, carpet and kick panels

This ?72 crossover is a one-former-owner, Californian Westy in very original condition. I?ve given it what I would call a sympathetic restoration. Everything was done with a view to it being our family camper. No corners have been cut and no expense has been spared!

Being the crossover you get the best of both worlds with classic Early Bay front-end styling coupled with servo-assisted disc brakes up front and the safer, larger style rear lights and cooling vents. Inside, the cab area is an absolute joy to be in with new seat covers, brand new OG style arch mats, and flooring, including kick panels.

Mechanically the brakes have been overhauled and work really well with the factory servo system. The original 1700 engine has been rebuilt with brand-new barrels and pistons. Compression is perfect across all four cylinders, spark plug burn is ideal and it has recently been professionally tuned on a rolling road producing just over 60hp. New Weber ICT34s have been installed on CB manifolds and with CB linkage - i. e the PROPER way by Wayout Westie. I?d genuinely drive this bus anywhere!!

The Westfalia camping interior is very original and is only missing the buddy seat cushions. Any worn/ broken trim and handles have been replaced with high-quality repro versions.

Paint and panels have all been done by Volkswagen in Hannover - i. e ALL original. There are a couple of small areas that have had a blow over in the past but it only adds to the appeal. The only area that could potentially be replaced is the battery tray. Other than that, the bus is rust-free (as in the naughty stuff that makes it weak).

In short, this is a very straight and solid, original bus - the kind which is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Run it as is, or have it painted without the £10k+ bill for panels and welding.
