Description
An extremely rare, matching numbers, Jensen Interceptor Convertible in striking Chrysler Silver and burgundy, understood to be 1 of 12 RHD cars in the UK, in it's day rivalling only the Rolls Royce Corniche and Aston Martin Volante. The car underwent a refurbishment 17 years ago which included bodywork, interior retrim, new power hood and engine upgrades : high-power cooling system, high-torque starter motor, high-compression camshaft, gas flowed exhaust and replacement twin Edelbrock carburretors with discreet under-dash manual choke. The bodywork has since acquired some battle-scars and blisters from regular London use but nothing serious, more cosmetic though it would benefit from some paint fettling - there is a small dent in the passenger door, blistered bonnet vents/ wiper spindles/ fuel flap (replacement flap included) and a few cracks here and there. Maintained mechanically regardless of cost to ensure reliability, and subsequently used for many long journeys to Dorset, Devon, Wales, Norfolk, Derbyshire and more, the 7. 2 litre engine pulls like a train but still delivers circa 15-18mpg, rumbling and turning heads as it does. Standard comforts include full burgundy leather with discreet charcoal piping, a matching leather tonneau, full Wilton carpeting with over mats, front and rear inertia seat belts, headrest pads, hydraulic folding hood, power windows front and rear (the rear pivot down into the bodywork when the hood is lowered), power steering, ice cold air conditioning, remote central locking and a powerful 400w sound system with sub-woofer and electric aerial. Always garaged and comes with a custom-tailored fleece-lined indoor cover (an outdoor cover is also available). The car can be viewed in Central London and it’s environs, or Wiltshire. The car has a massive folder of paperwork with invoices from day one when it was commissioned via Charles Follett in Mayfair, London. The build sheets are present as is a letter from Jensen Director Richard Graves included in the file, together with period brochures and a very rare convertible supplement. In my ownership many thousands have been spent maintaining it in excellent order for regular dry-weather use and has been enjoyed as thus for almost 14 years.
