HCC bring you this delightful 1958 Triumph TR3 A . this is a car we are selling on behalf of one of our old customers. Finished in bright red with wire wheels This example offers an affordable entry into TR3 ownership , it’s had some very worthwhile upgrades to enhance drivability and in its present state will make a great user Car ideal for club Road events / trials . The paint work will not win you any prizes, but the paperwork suggests that the car had extensive restoration works in the 80s and as such is essentially a very sound car upon inspection . Bodywork :: paint work finished in red looks very good from a few feet away, but upon closer inspection presents, flaws and imperfections / fading and staining . We will be doing a walk round video for serious interest which will highlight the bodywork in detail .
Interior:: the interior is in reasonable shape the car has had new carpets and under felts and new seat covers in a PVC , the dashboard is original condition with some paint missing from the centre section , gauges and switchgear are all good for age and work as expected . Nice Moto lita wood rim wheel fitted .
Engine Bay:: Engine bay is in good shape , the engine would tidy with little effort , and it’s obvious that money and effort has been spent here , The carbs and K and N filters , alternator conversion , Aluminium Radiator with Electric fan , it’s running a little rich at the moment and drips a bit of oil from the bottom but ticks over fine and pulls well
Boot / Cargo area :: Tidy overall with evidence of a Aluminium Tank fitted
Underside / suspension components :: with a light coating of under seal the car hides nothing and is a very sound example evidence of suspension components being changed , it’s had the rack and pinion steering upgrade plus new top a arms and has wilwood callipers squeezing drilled upgraded discs upfront .
Weather gear :: The car sports brooklands aero screens however, the car will also come with its standard screen and hood and it has a full cockpit tonneau cover .
Wheels / Tyres :: very nice condition chrome wires with excellent spinners fitted with great matching Dunlop tyres all round.
Summary :: we will add more info. The commission number of the car ends with an L, denoting left-hand drive , however, correspondence way back from respected TR archivist Bill Piggott says the car came off the production line in January 1958, and was finished in Powder Blue with Grey leather . It was destined for the USA however, it was held back at the factory until March, and converted to right hand drive by the factory and purchased by its first owner, who resided in Stockport UK , It did have a period of time in Canada in the late 80s with a “Wing commander “ owner and came back to the UK in 1996 so essentially a UK car all it’s life and first sold in the UK .
