This is an almost perfect, original example of this Volvo classic. Completely original and having been meticulously cared for over the past 49 years.
Huge history file, including original sales leaflet, owner's manual and concourse award history, as well as, service history and M. O. T. s dating back to 1978.
Though no longer in concourse winning condition, it would only require a partial respray and chrome refurbishment to return it to absolute perfection.
Only 8077 1800 ES models were ever produced, making this a fairly rare car at the time, there are now approximately 100 left in the U. K.
The B20E fuel injected engine is smooth and powerful, with the J-type overdrive making it comfortable to drive at motorway speeds. The original top speed was listed as 120mph, though I doubt this one has ever been tested to that speed.
Though this example has a very low mileage, the engine holds the record for the highest recorded mileage of a non commercial vehicle. In 2013 a P1800S in the U. S. A. was confirmed to have clocked up 3. 2 million miles. I added this Volvo to my collection of classic Volvos in 2018 and have only occasionally had it out from under it's cover since. The previous owner had it for over 18 years, where it was also kept garaged and covered. It is with great sadness that I am selling this lovely car, which is by far the best in my collection, but needs must.
