1981 Mercedes-Benz SL380 (R107) with 126, 000 miles
The car is silver with matching hard-top, blue soft-top, and blue interior.
The car is in very good overall condition with no mechanical or electrical faults, and without any structural or body rust. Everything works as it should (even the electric radio antenna)
I have done a lot of preventive maintenance in the car (invoices are available), always used high octane and low ethanol fuel (to avid the damage that high ethanol fuel causes to rubber items), and only driven it in dry weather.
Some of the recent work done includes:
• The Bosch injection system has been fully refurbished by KMI Petrol Injection (2023)
• New idle control module and valve (2023) – original Mercedes-Benz parts
• Four new brake callipers, disks, pads, and refurbished handbrake mechanism (2022) – original Mercedes-Benz parts
• Upgraded sound system (with new speakers, DAB, and Bluetooth)
• Four tires fitted in 2022 with less than 2000 miles
• New fuel pump – original Mercedes-Benz part
• New battery fitted in 2022
While this is a great example, the car is not in concourse condition. Some aspects that can be improved are:
• The upholstery of both seats is original and, after more than 40 years, looks tired. Replacements are available for around £300 each. I haven’t done it yet due to lack of time.
• The paint has some marks commensurate with the car’s age, even if it seems that it was repainted at some point in the past (not sure when since it was not done by any of the last two owners, who I’ve met, nor me). Again, there aren’t any signs of body rust or bubbling anywhere.
• The boot’s lock was replaced by some previous owner and uses a different key to the doors and ignition. It’s a small inconvenience and it never bothered me enough to prioritise it over other work. He car comes with two full sets of keys.
The car is sold with a full set of service manuals, the original tool set, and some spare parts.
