Assetto Corsa " means "race set-up" in Italian and it is in this area that the most important changes have been made to this iconic Maserati . The "Handling Package" includes lowered suspension - about 15 mm lower than the standard car with stiffer springs, a larger diameter anti-roll bar and a variable electronic suspension system that allows the driver to adjust to any of 14 individual settings.
The main feature of the Assetto Corsa package was the introduction of an intelligent electronic damping system that allows each throttle damper to automatically adjust to the level of vertical and lateral acceleration.
By processing data from a number of sensors, the suspension automatically adjusted up to 14 different settings. The traction control could be switched off.
The Assetto Corsa also features a larger front anti-roll bar, stiffer springs, a 15 mm lower ride height, soft Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres, racing brake pads, special ventilation ducts, a new steering servo with faster response and ergonomic sports pedals, perforated Connolly leather interior, dark grey painted 15-spoke alloy wheels, "Assetto Corsa" lettering on the door sills and red brake calipers.
The Assetto Corsa was developed from the 3200 GT Automatica. The special edition was limited to 250 units .
