EXTERIOR
In 1968, the shark shape of the latest Chevrolet Corvette coincided with the Coca Cola bottle release and as such the comparison was there for all to see; a wide nose, taper at the doors and the wide rear and flat base. Chevy had delivered a style icon that sounded as good as it looked.
This example gleams all round in a custom blue metallic that pops with a prominent silver flake and really come alive under the studio lights; with even panel gaps and a rich, deep lustre to the bodywork this C3 is a very special example. A similar story continues underneath ? really very solid without any corrosion registered in the past or present.
INTERIOR
The custom leather interior has survived very well over the years, with only gentle creasing to the driver seat belying the cars age and mileage. The telescopic wheel offers a range of adjustment to ensure driver can reach optimum position while the original stereo still remains. The whole space has not changed since it?s original sale in 1970 ? wholly original and in excellent cosmetic and operational condition.
The factory option hardtop is also available.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1970s was a difficult decade for the Chevrolet Corvette; starting in the midst of a horsepower war and ending with many manufacturers just trying to keep the same vehicles in production by drastically cutting performance in a bid to increase efficiency. Though many sports cars disappeared from production during this era, the Corvette remained and kept it?s character intact.
An acoustic delight, this ?Vette has had an engine overhaul and been kept in excellent health with careful use and mileage over the years.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
What else but Cobra Cooper Radial GT?s to keep this Corvette?s contact patch consistent ? not only from an aesthetic perspective but capable in all weather conditions.
The Power brakes are in good condition, hauling speed down quickly and smoothly.
HISTORY FILE
Delivered to Park Chevrolet of Buffalo, NY in 1970 this stunning Stingray was to be ordered with hard top, a custom leather interior, power steering and power brakes for a fraction under $6k.
Imported from the States in 1989 all correspondence from arrival into the UK is present and correct. Every MOT certificate and all service and parts invoicing throughout the years is continuous and accounted for; certainly a ?brimming? history file if ever we have seen one! The cylinder head has been off and been refaced along with the seats and valves, stems polished with new seals just 2k miles ago. At the same time a new radiator and exhaust manifold were installed.
Firs Garage of Banbury have been largely responsible for keeping this lovely example in tip top condition and the car sits in fantastic order both on top and underneath.
