EXTERIOR
Now coveted by enthusiasts, the Panda 4×4 has created an incredibly loyal following here and abroad in recent years; the quirky character and charm of these ?shoe box? specials certainly proves less is more thanks to a near perfect blend of form and function. This UK car had enjoyed long term ownership from new and has recently been brought back to it?s former glory with a recent respray in Grigio Metallic alongside some select upgrades for the open minded adventurer. To compliment the respray there are a number of invoices for work to the lower body panels and trims and the car now presents very well indeed.
Upon release Fiat themselves describe the car as ?the epitome of a smart, stylish and functional motor car? and incredibly What Car magazine would vote the Panda 4×4 a close second in their 1987 best off road vehicle category! Some achievement for the light and efficient ?city? car.
INTERIOR
Inside, this Panda remains remarkably original with the robust cloth upholstery in great shape showing only a light patina and minimal signs of age. The headlining has been renewed, but otherwise the cabin is as it was delivered ? even down to the original Blaupunkt Bristol 24 radio cassette player. Seats and door cards show very well indeed in their rugged beige fabric, with the matching material also applied across the dash pockets for extended storage.
A twin stage sunroof offers a lighter and more generous feel to the cabin space and although small in dimension the square, practical shape of the little Fiat does mean that passengers enjoy a surprising amount of room; two people can sit in the rear in ample comfort.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fuel-efficient and extremely durable, the Panda 4×4 is equipped with Fiat?s Fully Integrated Robotised Engine (FIRE) that generates a mighty 50hp. Perfect for those trips along the lanes to the farm shop, or equally adept on the snow saturated climbs to the ski chalet, this charming little city car has enormous character and has enjoyed a thorough service routine since new. The engine bay is clean and tidy with the most recent service to oil and filters just a handful of miles ago in September of 2022. Suspension and drivetrain componentry has been serviced thoroughly over the years with invoicing for a multitude of wear items.
Performance is modest by today?s standards although perfectly fit for purpose; clutch and gearbox are light and easy to use with 4WD lock up performing as it should.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The steel wheels have been treated to a matte black finish; tying in nicely with the roof cage, bull bars and heavy duty side strips. Kobra Malatesta all terrain tyres really look the part with this well optioned 4×4 ? offering a sturdy contact patch for all manner of conditions and challenges.
The braking system works as it should, with the brake pipes cleaned and waxed at the last service.
HISTORY FILE
Registered and delivered to a Mr Cigarini by Fiat of Wembley, appropriately just before Christmas 1987, this fantastic 4×4 still retains it?s original sales receipt, warranty service coupons and stamped service book. Family owned for the first 20 years of it?s life every MOT certificate is accounted for in the history file alongside continuous invoicing for works carried out since 1991.
Considering the very low mileage, and despite the car covering a majority of this early on in it?s life, it?s unusual to see that the car has always received regular maintenance with no significant gaps in the history file. To follow up the respray in 2020 a number of works have been carried out to the chassis and drivetrain to ensure an excellent standard throughout. The car has been serviced up-to-date and sits here in our showroom ready for it?s new owner and next adventure.
Very much an alternative fashion statement to the modern day 4×4 / SUV, the original Panda and particularly 4×4 have a dedicated and passionate following ? peerless in terms of charm and capability.
