BMW’s M car has been refined for decades and is a sure-fire way into a fast and reliable all-round sports car. The E46 M3 offered aggressive looks with great weight distribution and that stunning S54 straight six engine with individual ITB’s from factory to exceed the magic 100bhp per litre from a naturally aspirated power plant. The factory numbers were impressive. 338bhp and up to 8000rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox resulted in a 0-60 of 5. 2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. the powerplant has found its way into many an engine swap over the years.
This particular SMG coupe sits in Carbonschwarz Metallic with 19” CSL wheels filling the arches perfectly. The black leather interior is in exceptional condition, at some point the steering wheel has been retrimmed in Alcantara along with the dash inserts, SMG surround and door handles. Aside from this the car appears to be factory standard. The car drives really well having been looked after and with reasonable miles. It’s just received a fresh MOT with no advisories or failures.
Recent works has included a fresh set of tyres, new light lenses, a full service back in April 2023 and a recalibration of the SMG gearbox along with a new SMG relay in late 2022. The subframe has been inspected with no work required, engine and transmission well maintained with no previous major work required.
The car offers the capability of using it as a daily but still feeling special to drive. With very reasonable miles for its age and intention, just a few minor bodywork imperfections and strong history, it’s a great buy for anyone looking for some M Power.
