SUMMARY

I've been specialising in the W201 190/ 190E/ 190D for around twenty years now, and in that time over 200 examples have passed through my hands. However as time marches on good ones are getting very thin on the ground, but every now and again gems like this appear.

I actually first bought this car two years ago from the family that had owned it for 27 years. It was almost like a family Heir Loom, and was passed from father to son, however the car became the subject of a family disagreement, so the father eventually decided the best course of action to resolve the dispute was to sell. I took it into the MTSV fold in October 2021, and as it hadn't been used much for a few years, being stored in a garage under 3 (yes 3!) duvets, I set about a major recommissioning process the car as follows. That was at 81, 700 miles back then:

I subsequently sold the car to a enthusiast, and Mercedes Club member in April 2022 who covered about 4, 000 miles in it in the year and a half he owned it, however he decided in October that he had too many cars/ motorcyles, he had to let a couple go. I told him when he bought it from me, that should he ever sell, I'd buy it back, which I did without a moments hesitation as W201's like this hardly ever come around, and even better its the ultra simple, ultra reliable OM601 Diesel engined 190D.

So this time around there was much less to do, as I'd done the work previously. Also thanks to the previous owners dilagence (he'd had it servied twice in his ownership!) it really only required a "top-up" service. It also seems much better for its regular use too and now seems even smoother and more responsive, which is probably down to it being run on premium diesel for the last two years.

I just can't stress enough how much I love these old Mercedes diesels, and did seriously think about keeping this one myself, as I'll never find another like it, but as my wife keeps reminding me I'm actually in the business of selling cars, not collecting them, so here it is. I know its a cliche but I will be genuinely sad to see this one go, as its among the very best W201's I've owned. Even after all these years I still can't explain why I like these older Mercedes diesels so much, but they're so incredibly addictive; just ask anyone who's ever owned one. Also, if you so wish they'll pretty much run on anything resembling oil without issue (SVO, veg oil, hydraulic oil, Kerosene, old engine oil, heating oil and even a mixture theroff) However this one is far too good for that, but its the knowing you could, if you had to.

THE MTSV DIFFERENCE

Unlike some, I don?t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won?t notice?I just couldn?t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth?the ultimate accolade for anyone in business. To read more, see my website at - details above
