The final hurrah for the Phase 2 Clio Cup came in the form of the Trophy, Just 500 were made for the UK with another 50 for Switzerland. This is number 381 of 500 but not for the purists having been modified for competition use, although it is road legal with a fresh MOT. It was built to MUK circuit spec starting back in 2015 with the intention of doing trackdays and possibly racing at a later date. This direction was chosen by the owner at the time due to the car being a Cat D back in 2010, there is no sign of this that I can see now. Recorded as damaged, repairable but owner opted not to repair. There is a build thread on one of the Clio forums for the car tracking its history around the time of the build, its very informative and the owner was quite meticulous. Over the years it has done a smattering of trackdays by that owner and the current owner but never used in competition. Short of a new extinguisher and in date seat belt this car can compete in many UK club race series.
The car benefits from a number of upgrades to increase all round performance and drives really well with that lovely grunt from the Jenvey throttle bodies. The interior has been painted so presents well with seats and belts in good order. The underside appears really clean which would be about right for a car which is quite low miles, which appears to be backed up by its MOT history. The body and paint are in fair condition as well, it has a Renault Sport style livery on the roof and there are some scratches on the rear bumper as well as general wear and tear you would get on a track car, but lacking the wear and tear you would get on a road car.
The sale includes a set of TD 1. 2’s with Rainsports and a set of TD 1. 2’s with Dunlop slicks as well as a the original ECU. There is an extensive amount of service history including original Clio booklets in their folder, parts receipts, old MOT’s. The ECU CD ROM, USB and connecting cable are also included. The car has receipts for genuine timing belt, dephaser pulley and water pump in June 2015 which would have been 63, 365 miles. According to paperwork reputable specialists have been used for regular maintenance as well as good quality parts and fluids. In current ownership it has been dry stored and only used on trackdays hence not being MOT’d since 2018 until the now fresh MOT.
