History File - In July 2001, following more than five years of intensive development using the cutting-edge supercomputer technology known as "CAVE" (Computer Aided Virtual Environment), Mercedes-Benz unveiled the successor to the long-running Mercedes-Benz R129. This new model was introduced at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show as the brand-new Mercedes-Benz SL-Class (R230). Production officially commenced on October 13, 2001, at the Bremen manufacturing plant, and European sales began the following November. All of these remarkable vehicles were meticulously assembled in Bremen, Germany, with a production run that continued until 2011, encompassing a total of eight unique engine variations and two automatic gearbox options. This particular First Generation SL 55 AMG, with the chassis number WDBSK74F05F095432, rolled off the production line in late 2004 as a Model Year 2005 car. It was subsequently shipped to the United States, where it received its initial registration in 2006. Interestingly, in February 2008, the car made its way back to Germany, where it has had three owners, with the last two being from the same family. Upon its return to Germany, it underwent a comprehensive transformation, including the installation of a luxurious Alcantara interior to an exceptionally high standard, which incurred a cost exceeding ?24, 000. Additionally, a new set of 20" alloy wheels, fully approved by the German TÜV, from the renowned manufacturer LORINSER, was fitted, adding a distinctive touch to this head-turning example.
