1972 FIAT 500L 'LUSSO'

MOT until March 2025 - Stub axels just replaced. Oil changed and filter cleaned out.

A well-preserved left-hand-drive example of the charming classic city car, in an attractive Giallo Positano colour scheme.


London ULEZ exempt based on age.


Powered by the 499c 18bhp engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. In great running order. I have owned this 500 since July 2021 and will be very sad to see this lovely little car go. It has been garaged throughout my ownership.

This 500 has been updated with Automatic Inertia type seatbelts and 123 Electronic Distributor which makes the car much easier to use and means no messing around with points.


The ‘Lusso’ model is equipped with chrome bumper overriders at the front and rear, rectangular tail lights, a horizontal instrument panel and ribbed vinyl upholstery.


Along with the the new 123 distributor the Car has been fitted with new door cards and chrome handles inside. 2 round chrome wing mirrors. New Fuel Pump and the carburettor has had an overhaul kit.


Its previous Italian registration document will be included in the sale showing it was kept in the Siena region – plus a jack and wheel brace.


Its resprayed Giallo Positano paintwork is in excellent shape, now presenting with just a few minor imperfections around the sills and rear vents.
Small cracks can be seen on the seams above the front headlights, There are a few surface rust spots around the car but overall the body work is in good condition for its age.


The inside of windscreen is lightly scratched.
Inside, its black vinyl upholstery features some light creasing and the odd surface mark.


The inside of the fabric sunroof is slightly discoloured.


Previously registered in Italy, it was imported to the UK and re-registered in August 2012.


No electrical faults have been detected.


The most recent MOT test was on 14 September 2015 at 55, 989 km, which was a pass with two advisories to monitor slight play in the offside front wheel bearing and slight free play in the nearside front kingpin. It is exempt from mandatory testing on the basis of age.


There are no known mechanical issues, and it is reported to be in good running order.


This 1972 Fiat 500L ‘Lusso’ is a good example of the chic Italian classic, in one of the most popular period colours. Offered in good mechanical condition, it would make a fun companion for weekend drives, or a charming runabout for inner-city use.
