An all original and unrestored specimen, this W114 230 6 cylinder, internally know as the / 8 model range presents in as new condition, a true time warp car, that is not only preserved but rearing and ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.
Mechanically the 230 with its sweet revving M180 straight six engine is a dream, it has a lovely power curve and belies its 50 plus year vintage, the four speed column shift automatic transmission is very smooth and responsive in all up and down shift situations.
The car has benefited from recent sympathetic mechanical work to the extent of:
Carburetor rebuild.
Fuel tank rebuild.
Bilstein shock absorbers all round.
Motor and transmission mounts.
Major lube and ignition diagnostic service.
New tyres including the spare wheel.
Entering the cabin of the vehicle one is immediately taken by the amazing original and unrestored condition.
There is virtually now discernible wear or tear to be seen, the blue MB Tex seats are supportive and firm, as new. As one would expect of a car with less than a 100000KM on the clock, the dashboard and instrument fascia presents in an equal state of perfection.
All gauges and adornments function as they should.
Externally the 230 is free of any corrosion as it had spent a cherished life in dry state South Africa. There is no UV damage to the paint work, and the bright work is equally free of any signs of pitting or indentation.
Light lenses, glass and trim are all as new and untouched.
The boot is complete with its 5th magnesium alloy rim and tools, the condition of the boot is also as per the rest of the car, superb.
As a keen and devoted Mercedes-Benz owner, I have no doubt that there is no better 230 six cylinder available for purchase at a more reasonable rate than my car, it is a wonderful value offering to the discerning Mercedes fan looking to enter W114 ownership.

There have been many W114 model cars for sale over the past two years, most of them are the typical tired old Sedan, this is however not the case with the subject 230.
This specific car has been cosseted by only two caring owners in its 53 year existence, the first being a lady owner whom seldom used the vehicle, and the second being myself. It has taken pride of place in my collection and has enjoyed numerous runs and exhibitions.
It does truly stand out from the crowd in a wonderful period colour combination.
They simply do not build them like this anymore.
