There are loads of MGB’s for sale, some at silly money, some needing hours of work and occasionally a well-priced, drive away, very smart looking gem like this one pops up, just been serviced with a new MOT, it’s not to be missed, read on…..
Before we carry on, please, please, please ask to see the YouTube video, it shows everything including a full 4-minute comprehensive tour of the underside, it’s probably the best demonstrated MGB on the market, nothing hidden, nothing to hide. The car arrived with us before the Christmas holidays and has been improved during our break, it now has a working overdrive, a new MOT and it’s just been serviced, so we have a second update video for this car.
1971 MGB Roadster in good all-round condition with a rock solid underside, running and driving spot on, it’s a really smart looker and has seen a lot of recent investment with many new parts including brake callipers, manifold bolts and gaskets, discs and pads, new front coil springs, new rear springs, bushes and bolts, new rear spring U bolts and plates, new front suspension bushes, all new bump stops, new rear axle check straps, new fuel sender unit, new battery, new handbrake actuators and more that we haven’t listed.
The car also benefits from and an additional Kenlowe electric cooling fan, electronic ignition, braided hoses, an oil cooler and pancake air intakes. It came to us through the trade and has clearly not been used for some time, we suspect it’s been an ongoing long term restoration that has never yet made it out on the road as all the new parts underneath are still fresh.
Starts and runs well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops very well (see video) and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness at the steering wheel, if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit.
The interior is a delight, really well finished with red piped seats, a very original and unmolested dashboard, all the switches, gauges and clocks are working, retractable seat belts fitted in body colour matched red, a lovely place to enter and get comfy for some motoring adventures.
Both doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights and horn, wiper, washers, heater fan all work. The hood is in good order, no splits, also has a red edge trim, plus there’s a full tonneau cover in the boot.
The paintwork is very presentable, there are imperfection that will be found on close inspection as with any classic car, yes it’s been painted at some point but not last week, yes you can see over spray in the video on the underside, yes the over spray has now been removed / covered in underseal after we made the video, we’ve nothing to hide, they have all seen paint at some point. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged but all fine. It’s completely solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, these are all shown in our video and it now has it fresh MOT.
We have the current logbook, two sets of keys, current (unconfirmed) recorded mileage is 27330, its HPI clear with full printout and the car is TAX and MOT exempt, it is also exempt from charges in all the UK low emission zones including ULEZ. The car is running a matching set of Firestone tyres with nearly new tread, on an original factory spec set of steel wheels with dished hub caps, full size spare wheel and jack in the boot.
As with any classic car if you look hard enough, you’ll find something to improve, we are not selling perfection, we are selling a very useable and solid MGB in great running order at very sensible money, even the £16k ones on offer will have flaws somewhere if you look long enough.
There are loads of MGB’s to pick from, you simply will not find another this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house.
SERVICE WORK COMPLETED
The overdrive solenoid switch has been removed and all the connections cleaned, now working correctly. The heater valve body was blocked with crud, heater now works well and the antifreeze has been topped up. New spark plugs, fuel filter, new oil, new rocker gasket, new oil filler cap, new sump plug washer, tappets all set, carbs cleaned, balanced and lubricated. Test driven 30 miles to and from its MOT, passed with no advisories. Undersealed where required front to back.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK for £1 per road mile (it will not be delivered by crow), one way from Carlisle, please ask for a price.

All viewings are exclusively by timed APPOINTMENT ONLY, we do not have a showroom or display area, items may have to be brought from our secure storage to view and advance notice will be required.
PAYMENT
Payment by bank transfer or cash, full printed invoice supplied. We have no card facilities, Paypal is not accepted, cheques are not accepted. We do not take deposits to hold items sorry.
