1978 Volkswagen 181 Ex-West German Army Trekker

This car has most of its original paint. It was registered in the UK in 2010. V5 present.

Since my ownership the following work has been completed:

1641cc petrol engine with:
Big valve heads,
Heavy duty oil pump,
Heavy duty oil pressure relief valves,
Engle W110 cam,
Straight cut cam gears,
Bolt through rockers,
Swivel foot valve adjusters,
Bolt on rocker covers,
Stainless steel windage pushrod tubes,
Dellorto 40 DRLA’s,
009 Distributor,
MST pulleys,
Alternator conversion,
Custom oil catch can with AN10 Aeroquip hose and fittings,
Facet electric fuel pump and Filter King,
Merged stainless header and exhaust,

Gearbox is a freeway flyer running a 3. 8 final drive.
Powder coated driveshafts, gearbox mount and sump guard.

As per photos, engine and gearbox has been finished in black and crackle black, and all stainless hardware.

Polyurethane rear trailing arm bushes,
Polyurethane spring plate bushes,
Empi dropped spindles,
Eva resto adjustable dropped spring plates,

Brake lines are fully braided throughout,
New engine bay seals,
Crowsfeet 15” steel wheels with spacers,
Tyres are 165 45 15 (front) & 195 65 15 (rear),
Rebuilt pedal assembly,
New ball joints,
New CV boots,

Condition:

As mentioned, paintwork is original, and in good condition commensurate to age; both body and underside are free from rust.

Original removable isinglass side curtains (windows) are aged, with some discolouration and crazing; replacements can be sourced. Roof is original and can be folded back, windscreen folds down onto bonnet.

Tyres are in nearly new condition. Two keys present. Military convoy flags included. No MOT required due to age.

Located in Porthcawl, South Wales (direct access from M4, approximately 50 mins from Bristol).

Delivery can be arranged at cost if required, but car is show and drive ready.
