Not our usual kind of stock...
This 190E 2. 0 automatic was registered on Jan 1st 1990 and supplied by Portmann of Manchester. Since 1992 it remained within the same local family until it was acquired in 2019 by a company that supplies cars for tv & flim use. I remember them acquiring this car and it was lovely... However it was chosen for its colour by the art director on a well known TV drama. Sadly there were no rough examples available at the time in this colour; I think you might have guessed where this is going.. It was used in a crash scene in which a vehicle was driven into the back of it by a stunt driver. It has not been subject to any insurance claim.
Since 2019 it has sat in storage in case another use for it came up and it is now surplus to requirements. The damage sustained is shown in the photos.
The mileage of this car is just 81000 and it comes with a very impressive history file and two keys. The specification includes electric sunroof, electric windows, ABS and optional rear headrests. It still has it's original Blaupunkt Melbourne stereo and fabric mats present. The condition of the blue cloth interior is excellent with a crack free dashboard, perfect headlining and map pockets and only very minimal wear to the drivers seat. Bodywork apart from the rear damage is excellent as are the mechanicals and I'm not aware that any welding has ever needed to take place. Aside from brakes being sticky due to to storage it actually still drives very well and was clearly looked after. We have just replaced the battery to make moving it about and loading easier. Similar undamaged examples have been making in the region of £3000 to £4500 at auction; check results on Glen March.
If you have the time, talent & tools you could hopefully repair it. Parts required would include rear panel, tail lights and bootlid at the very least. The bumper looks re-useable though the rear floorpan would need pulling out. Both rear doors still open.
It would be nice to see this car back on the road but it would also be ideal for export to Africa, or simply for banger racing or breaking or to transplant the parts into another shell.
Would need to be trailered due to having no MOT.
Based in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
