As I am sure readers will know, the XJR-S is the TWR tuned version of the 6 litre V12 XJS and was made in limited numbers by Jaguar sport. The spec included sharper suspension and steering rack, 16 inch speedline alloys, higher grade interior leather plus the 6 litre engine with Zytec sequential ignition putting out 318 bhp.

After spending a lot of time looking and then finding the right car I am now unfortunately required to sell it following an expensive engine failure in my other classic Jaguar E type. This has made me realise that I need to direct my finances to fixing the classic car I already have and use. Better to have one car that works instead of two in parts! The next owner has the opportunity to create what I wanted to do and own will be one of the best examples of this rare limited production version of the XJR-S.

So to the car. It is a 1991 (pre-facelift) 6 litre XJR-S with full TWR body kit. The car has 99k miles and there is a stamped service history to 90k miles to support this mileage. It comes with it's complete original book pack in the original leather pouch in the same colour as the interior leather. I have the V5 in my name.

Let's start with the expensive bit to get right. The body on this XJS is absolutely superb. The previous owner wanted to own a perfect example of an XJRS and purchased a good example to commence a full rebuild to show standards. Pictures of the car pre-strip down are attached. He sourced rare factory original panels to repair floor and inner plus outer cills. The body is arrow straight and absolutely rust free, with engine bay and boot area already painted to final top coat. The inner wings are excellent around the typical XJS suspension tower rust points. Rear trailing arm mounts are rock solid. The exterior of the shell is currently finished in an expoxy primer and only requires a final blocking after which it will be ready for the paint booth. The underside is already finished in body colour over a modern high performance protecting coat. The dash and main loom are installed.

The rear suspension and frame has been overhauled to show standard. The diff has not been rebuilt but I was advised ran perfectly.
Front suspension has been completely stripped and part assembled. It requires a few bushes to complete and be re-installed. The car currently sits on the rear wheels and the front is supported by a dolly on wheels and it rolls well for transport.
The interior leatherwork is in great condition and will require a simple clean. No repair work is required - there are no rips and tears for example. Carpets are like new.

The previous owner has already detailed the engine and gearbox. They are clean enough to eat your dinner off. I asked whether any overhaul work had been completed and was advised that the car ran well and the intention was to re-install as is. Personally, given they are both removed from the car and currently sitting in a bespoke steel stand I would deem it sensible to strip and overhaul them whilst there is easier access. To be clear, I have not had the engine running nor have I seen it run prior to strip down. Same for the gearbox. It is as it came to me. The TWR tuned engine is a desirable object in its own right and command good money. If I were to continue with this project I would give serious consideration whilst the car is apart to swapping the 4 speed Auto for a 5 speed manual to really change the driving experience.

The car is complete in that all of the carefully removed parts are with the car, including the full TWR body kit that has been prepared for paint.

The shell, engine and gearbox are located at a well known Jaguar restoration business near Nottingham. This highly rated company would be pleased to continue the rebuild for any new owner. Inspection can be arranged during the working week with prior notice.

Transport for the rolling shell can be arranged at a competitive price. The remainder of the parts will require the use of a large van. A fork lift is available for loading purposes.

I am happy to work with overseas buyers but the car will not be going anywhere until it is paid for.

The XJS is coming of age and the limited production JaguarSport TWR powered version will be the one to have, with a rawer sports car feel to the production GT version. This car is in desirable colour combination and will turn heads. I purchased it as soon as I saw the state of the bodywork - you just don't find rust free XJS's that often. Starting with a good base car, this has had significant time and effort expended to get it arrow straight. You could not re-create this work for the asking price. I am fortunate enough to have owned several classic Jaguars (including my broken E type!!) but for more comfortable stress free journeys I would always prefer to take an XJS.
