Description
The MGB needs little introduction. This car is a 1970 roadster in Tarten red with a beige interior. It was restored in 2001, a ground up rebuild with a heritage body shell and a very long list of improvements and it presents in simply outstanding condition. The rebuild was clearly very well thought through and all of the replacement parts and upgrades have been chosen regardless of cost.
A fully rebuilt engine was fitted with “Ivor Searle” stage two cylinder head and a four branch tubular manifold with “Tourist Trophy” stainless exhaust, electronic ignition and high flow aluminium radiator with Kenlowe fan, “Hardy” fuel pump and hydraulic power steering. The front brakes have been fitted with grooved and drilled discs with green stuff pads, silicone brake fluid and braided hoses all round – MGB brakes are fundamentally good in the first place but these mods transform them. Rear shocks are Gaz adjustable. The interior was completely renewed including an expensive carpet set and leather covered replacement seats and matching boot trim. The hood is a beautifully fitting mohair one. There are various other useful concessions to modern motoring including electric screen washers, upgraded headlamps, hazard-lamps and CD radio and sat-nav socket. There is also a detachable wind deflector, hood cover and full tonneau.
In addition to the specification, this MG is in close to perfect condition with excellent panel fit and a beautiful paint finish. On the road, this outstanding MGB drives substantially better than a standard car and the various upgrades make it feel surprisingly modern to drive without losing any of the MGB character perhaps making it the ideal choice classic tours or rallies.
