Welcome to the sale of this C5, affectionately known in our house as "The suppository". I bought it to thump up and down the motorway between Keighley and Aldershot, and for the last 4, 500 miles that's what it's done. I'm only selling because I've seen another silly car I like the look of.

The Good

It's the exclusive spec - this means it gets electric windows, electric leather (strangely not heated) electric mirrors, dual zone air con and automatic wipers and lights - and more! Bizarrely for a 23 year old Citroen this all works, although the parking sensors have been disconnected.

Mechanically, she wears her 170, 000 miles well. She starts first key, pulls through the gears (as well as 110bhp can in a body this size can) and does high 40s MPG at motorway speeds. The hydro suspension all works as it should, too.

In my ownership she's had new oil, new lamps (cor!) and some new speakers because the old ones were shot, as well as four new tyres. They're cheap ditchfinders, but did you expect owt else? Helpfully, I've also got it a full size spare alloy rather than a steely.

I threw a bottle of reddex in the tank that I found in the shed into it, as well as reattaching the side trim as I booted it whilst drunk and it fell off. There's stacks of paperwork and the boot is massive.

The bad

The bodywork is rough. There's micro blisters on in numerous areas. I had planned to rub them down and respray but I've not got round to it yet - but got the paint.

The wheels have been curbed to within an inch of their lives, and are really very sorry for themselves.

The rear tailgate glass doesn't open (a common fault) and the struts are gone. However helpfully included is an expertly measured length of wood that holds it up. Further, some interior buttons are a bit sticky in places where the rubber has worn down.

It's utterly useless for impressing members of your preferred sex.

The questions

The clutch is quite "high". However, since I've got used to driving it that's just the way it's set up. It doesn't slip under hard acceleration nor on a hill test.

Twice it's cut the turbo on me, but I cleaned the MAF and it's been fine since, as well as now running a bit cleaner. Thought I'd just point this one out in case the problem ever comes back.

One of the rear drop links need doing. Another thing I was planning to do this summer as the parts are about £20 and it's a 15 minute job if you get lucky! It clunks occasionally but that's all.

In short - I've been quite impressed with this car. It's been a comfortable way to drive thousands of miles, and I'm confident in it. I'd like to see it go to someone who'll use it for something similar, or with a bit of love it's almost a modern classic.

I think offers of around £1200 are about right? Obviously being an old Citroen it could explode tomorrow, but on current performance this one is a good one! Come and have a look - always happy to have a candid cuppa and a conversation. Happy to supply more pictures on request.
