Original Group 6 Sports Prototype Eligible for Masters Historic Sportscars, Peter Auto CER and HSCC thundersports events.

Chassis number C14/ 005/ 70 is one of a small number of Group 6 Sports Prototypes constructed in 1970 by Bill Needhams Coldwell Engineering in Sheffield UK. The car has a short chain of ownership from new in 1970. Sold by Bill Needham to Herbert Tulodzieki (Austria) and subsequently sold to Peter Maurer (Germany) and Fred Laufer (Germany). Bought in 2001 by Lorraine Gathercole and then raced by LG and Dave Gathercole in Martini Trophy (HSCC) and Master Historic Sports Car Racing with great results including a Masters outright win.

Fitted with a Gathercole Cosworth FVC with around 5 hours running since the last full rebuild. FT200 gearbox rebuilt 5 hours ago by JPR.

A very fast car on similar pace with Chevron B19. Recent races at Silverstone Classic and Gold Cup with good results, it was on similar pace to B19 driven by Dean Forward at Oulton and finished 3rd overall:

New FIA HTP issued 07/ 03/ 17 valid until 31/ 12/ 2027. Also previous HTP’s issued 03/ 09/ 02 & 10/ 01/ 2011.

Recent Leda dampers front and rear including springs – I have the dyno sheets for these. Recent AP complete clutch assembly. Pair of new front hubs and discs, rear calipers checked and serviced by BG Developments. Rear discs crack checked and ground by BG Developments.
New Stack Pro Control gauges (Water temp, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp and Rev Counter).
New Oil cooler, oil circuit hoses and fittings.
New fuel system hoses and high pressure fuel pump. 4 recent drive shaft UJ’s,
3 sets of wheels, 1 set brand new from Mike Barnby Engineering with 1 set slicks 1 set inters and 1 wets.
Included is a Small Spares package including front upright and hub etc.

Documented UK & European race results from 1971 and 72 when raced by Bill Needham and also period photographs of Bill Needham with the car.

This is a very original , well set up FVC engined sports car that is on the button and immaculately prepared at a price point that is a bargain . Lola 290's twice the price and the same perfromance.
