Owned as part of a small private collection by a BMW UK Car Club member and now for sale, this is one of the last e30 Convertibles off the production line. Apr 1993 build, 318i Lux convertible in vibrant Lagoon green complimented by a full Anthracite grey leather interior, manual gearbox. Half electric/ manual roof. Electric windows (all working as they should), PAS, discs all round, aftermarket stereo with original electric aerial.
In Summer 2022 this vehicle underwent a professional (partial) underside restoration that included the following work: All bushes replaced using genuine BMW where available (first option) and Lemforder: Rear subframe bushes, beam bushes and bolts and rear ARB bushes. Rear Anti-roll bar blasted and re-painted, Differential blasted & re-painted. New rear brake lines professionally replaced. New Lemforder drop links on front and rear. New front control arms, genuine front BMW ARB bushes.
Other items replaced during this time include: Rear handbrake shoes, washer pump, Bosch starting motor, battery & wiper blades, new genuine BMW front chrome grill, genuine rear boot badge, genuine gearknob and front bonnet badge
In Summer 2023 professional paint from respected local bodyshop (Lead tech is ex-BMW approved) to address rear arch, bottom rear valance and inside door shut, all rust removed, metal fabrication and re-spray. Passenger door repair and respray to rectify a previous poor repair. Minor blemishes also rectified. All door mouldings and bumper inserts have been restored back to their original factory black.
This car is solid in all the right places i. e. battery holder under bonnet. It would be fair to say that in general the paint on this car is in nice condition but also take into consideration this is a 30yr old car and hasn’t had a full re-spray, retaining as much genuine paint as possible, therefore there are a few marks that have been paint-pen touched in from previous owner but you have to look closely to see it.
Serviced in Aug 2023 with all genuine BMW parts, oil filter, sump gasket, auxiliary belts, coolant and brake fluid change. Replacement of the diff seal, gearbox selector seal and gearbox shaft seal - all genuine BMW parts were used.
108, 600k miles. MoT expiry 26 June 2024 - no advisories in the past 2years. Can provide a new MoT should new buyer require.
The mechanical work and servicing instructed by me has been carried out between two trusted local garages, one a BMW Indy and the other a trusted local garage with an excellent reputation.
Importantly the roof was replaced in 2016 by Soft Tops (All Hoods Ltd) in Romford, and is still in nice condition although does has 3 very small nicks (in a small cluster) but it does not appear to be causing any ingress of water.
Another important area is the dashboard on e30’s, again in very nice condition with only a very minor crack (approx 10mm) - compared to the usual large crack to be found on most e30's (a common issue)
Vehicle will be sold with option of either the gold/ chrome BBS 15' split rims (reps) or original genuine BMW BBS 15’ cross spoke alloys which have just been professionally refurbished by WheelWorx of Colchester and not fitted back into car since. Negotiation for spare set welcomed.
This car came with some paperwork and receipts but not the original service book, I have started a new BMW service book and the recent service is stamped in. I have receipts for all the parts purchased by me and for the all of the work carried out by the specialists.
This car drives beautifully, the engine & gearbox are smooth with no notches. This car not only drives really well but the stunning Lagoon green is Cameleon like, popping more towards Aqua in bright sunshine and turning more Boston green in darker light. It is a real head turner and it is surprising that it has admirers from a much younger generation of followers than you would expect as well the older generations that remember this as a 'new car' and is complimented everywhere it goes. It was a pretty car 30 years ago and still is to this day. This is a genuine reason for sale due to the fact that I have others cars and not enough time to drive them all.
This car has always been dry stored by myself and is currently in professional storage so any viewing will need to be made by prior appointment in advance. This car will need nothing doing for the new owner but just to enjoy throughout the spring and summer season - it is ready to go, not a project. Most cars of this age will not have had all the bushes and rear brake lines replaced.
