EXTERIOR
Finished in one of the best period colours, Inka Orange, this CSL makes quite the impression when it comes into view. The body on this stunning car was fully rebuilt by an experienced E9 specialist back in the 90s and survived well over a number of years until a recent overhaul in 2021 with marque specialists. The bodywork pops beautifully throughout and is complimented perfectly by chrome fixtures and fittings that have been immaculately restored. From a styling perspective the front air dam, alongside the classic Alpina wheels, really transform the attitude of the car alongside the dazzling paintwork.

The laminated green tint windscreen appears original – still containing the factory fitted running in stickers and the correct start procedure.

INTERIOR
The interior in a BMW E9 coupe is like none other, beautifully laid out with lashings of wood trim it is a wonderful place to be with the fantastic Scheel seats a fitting centre piece to this homologation special. Having been subject to a full re-fit, the cabin space feels and smells like new while the period looking radio head unit is actually now home to a modern Bluetooth Retrosound system – complimented by a Pioneer speaker system and USB cable.

The steering wheel is leather clad and a factory fitted wheel that is commonly found in some of the City Pack cars. The plastic carpet covers by the front seat (all too easily broken or lost) are still present finishing off the interior nicely.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine has previously been fully rebuilt and refurbished in house by our BMW trained technician, passionately reconstructed with fond memories having spent 30 years at BMW being trained in the ’70s on these very cars. The engine was fully stripped, diamond honed then built back up with genuine pistons and bearing shells. The head was stipped and rebuilt with any new parts necessary.

Having covered just 5k miles since, the car starts quickly from cold and idles correctly right up to temperature; strong, smooth and with plenty of torque across the rev range. The gearbox remains smooth and precise with the clutch light and easy to operate.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This gorgeous Inka CSL has been treated to some original 16 inch Alpina wheels that are in excellent condition; complimenting that touring car racer for the road style.

A matching set of Continental PremiumContact tyres adorn all four corners with plenty of tread depth whilst the braking system has been completely overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
Certified by BMW Classic, this CSL was manufactured on November 18th and delivered on November 22nd, 1972 to the UK with original paint code 022 – Inka Orange.

Purchased out of passion by its enthusiast owner in 1990 as a restoration project this CSL was then transported to E9 experts with 1970s main dealer experience for its extensive body rebuild. Sympathetically restored and rebuilt the car was then seldom driven covering less than 5000 dry miles and stored inside.

Since it’s subsequent sale to it’s current owner by ourselves in 2015, the car has been used sparingly before the decision was made to subject the car to a further considerable overhaul with classic BMW restoration specialists – RS Garage of Portugal. The car now sits in excellent condition top-to-bottom, inside and out.

In the history file there is a collection of previous MOT and SORN certificates dating back to the early 90s, along with a photographic record of the initial restoration and the most recent work with RS to ensure the car is future-proofed for years to come.
