Honda CB550 Digger

I’ve decided it is definitely time to let this one go as it’s just sat not being used.
This bike is a period correct digger built by Boneshaker Choppers, it was built in the style of Arlen Ness bikes of the 70’s and has all the right bits and lots of incredible engraving by the renowned engraver Don Blocksidge.

It’s currently a non runner but will run fine.. I’m just struggling for time to get it sorted.. I cleaned the carbs and put new float bowl gaskets in but thats as far as we got so the bike will need a bit of light re commissioning to get back on the road.
I think the battery is completely dead/ kaput and the ignition on off switch is broken- I have ordered a new switch and will try and revive the battery.
So- the bike is being sold as a non runner/ project but I reckon a couple of hours tinkering will get it back on the road.. as far as I’m aware it doesn’t need any parts.. (maybe a battery) just a bit of time. If I get chance I will try and get it running before the auction ends but don’t count on it.
I’d say some fresh fuel, a new battery and fit the new ignition switch and some general going over nuts and bolts would see the bike back on the road.
Or it would look great on display somewhere
The bike in England U. K so if you are outside the U. K bear in mind you will have to organize transport.
The bike spec is-
Honda CB 550 motor
Stock frame but with quite a bit of work done- hard head, seat rails etc- frame work was done by Andy Todds (Toddy).. if you don’t know him he is a very talented guy who’s work on restoring original early Harley framesis very much respected.
Century style Springers are By Reg Chatwin.
Lots of engraving by Don Blocksidge- sadly Don has now passed but his work has been on many well known show bikes including John Reeds Yamaha. The engraving itself is a bit of custom bike history.
Tank is genuine Arlen Ness/ Bob Munroe rocket tank.. very hard to find. I’ve just seen one for sale in the states for £2000
Rear fender is genuine Arlen Ness item, once again- difficult to find.
Paint and gold leaf is by Dave Addis at ‘Flakeys Paint Studio’
Dyna electronic ignition and coils.
One off wiring loom in yellow cloth wire.
All other fab work by Boneshakers- one off bars, exhausts, struts, fender rails etc.
It’s a 16 rear wheel, 21 spool hub front wheel.
everything chromed or polished.
All chrome nuts and bolts.
Smoothed and chrome swing arm.
The bike does have a few paint chips and a few age related marks but is generally very clean. I can provide details and photos of any chips/ detail photos on request.
The bike hasn’t run for a while but is turned over regularly and kept in doors.
The bike was featured in Back Street Heroes a few years ago.
It’s a cool little bike, it would be good to see it go to someone who appreciates these weird little custom bikes.
